| I love the fall. Absolutely LOVE it, even football (read my column on Tuesday; even football, in small doses, can be good). I love the fact that my anniversary is at the beginning of fall, my birthday's in the middle, and Thanksgiving's at the end. And THEN, we have CHRISTMAS!!!
(Too much caffeine today, I do believe...)
Fall Favs: 1. Cooler weather means cuddly sweaters, blankets and hot chocolate and hot coffee! 2. I can now paint a paw print on my face on Saturdays, and no one will think I'm crazy. 3. Boots. Need I say more? 4. Fire places + s'mores = one romantic evening. 5. New, fall fragerences come out of Bath and Body Works. 6. Pumpkin pie. 7. New season of Grey's Anatomy (I want to name all of my children MEREDITH! Actually, no I don't, as Meredith is having some not-so-fun with a married man, even if he IS Dr. McDreamy.). 8. Ample opportunities to eat candy corn. 9. Red leaves! Any others that I have forgotten?
Thoughts of the day (the ones that amused me at this moment): To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides. -- David Viscott Live well. It is the greatest revenge. -- The Talmud

| Oh my gosh! My story (one or two, I can't remember) is in the alumni magazine!!! Ryan Richard with Marbury Alumni Center just called me. I'm going to pick up a couple of copies today. :)
Kyle and my dad are ripping up the back deck so they can put a brick one down. They also fixed the fence, so now Vicki (and our new cat Smokey) can go out and play without us having to worry. Yeah, we got a cat. She (maybe he, but we think a she) showed up Friday night, and I fed her, therefore she's ours. She's gray and just a lil' sweetheart.
Back to Kyle and my dad, though. They worked on it all this morning, so when Rindy and I headed home with Johnny's, I noticed Kyle had a large intention on his cheek. He somehow got hit with a 2x4. I can't remember how it happened, but it didn't do much to dampen Kyle's spirits. He and Dad seemed to be having a great time. Ripping up decks, fixing fences, chasing wasps with badmitton racquets (see myspace.com/judithroberts)...It's a full day for them.
Hey, check out diggingwells.blogspot.com. Very interesting story; I interviewed the woman today. Jill Martin, a special ed teacher at Ruston High, is raising $16,000 to build a well in Africa so people can have clean drinking water -- and won't have to walk eight hours a day to get it. I'm really impressed with her dedication and devotion, so if you get a chance, just read over her blog (or read it in the Leader when it comes out). She's an amazing woman.
| J's Italian Villa restauraunt and their chicken verona. Magic Springs theme park. Crystal Falls water park. Maxwell Blade's magic show. A dinner cruise on the Belle of Hot Springs. Traveling through Garvan Gardens. Eating at Fuji's Japanese restauraunt. Spending a day at the spa. Meandering downtown. Swimming in the hotel pool. Watching the fireworks over Lake Hamilton. Walking on a tightrope ten feet high at the Mid-America Museum. Eating breakfast and drinking coffee at Vicki's Coffeehouse and Si's Coffee.
I'm pretty sure I left something out...Can't remember it right now, though.
Whew. I think I need a vacation from my vacation.
Seriously, we had such a great getaway. I'll have to post pictures soon. They're fun.
Crazy thing happened in Hot Springs, though, that was not very fun. On the last night we were there, Kyle and I were leaving our room at about 9 p.m., and there were people gathered around the pool and an ambulance, fire truck and about three police cars. A 31-year-old woman had been facedown in the pool for about four or five minutes — and no one did anything to help her. I heard a few rednecks say, "Oh, yeah, well I can't swim." Kyle was so mad that no one did anything to help, and I was, too. I mean, seriously. Even if you can't swim, you can throw the pool-cleaning thingie (see how well I know pool jargon) and pull her to the side where you can get her. The pool was not that big. Anyway, keep her in your prayers, please. When we left, the hotel employees said that she was still not breathing on her own, and her fiance had arrived at the hospital sometime during the night.
To end on a happier note, though... When Kyle and I went to the Mid-America Museum, we decided to watch the laser light show. The guy in charge sounded JUST LIKE Cleveland from Family Guy. Kyle and I kept cracking up, and he kept saying stuff from Family Guy, which made me laugh even more, which made more people turn around, wondering what we were laughing about. Guess you have to know Family Guy.
Also, for you who are not Family Guy fans (and who do not have facebook to see the picture when it gets posted), when we went to Garvan Gardens, they had an Asian part to walk through which had a bridge called the Full Moon Bridge. Yeah. You guessed it. Now, while the picture is not inappropriate by any means, it does have Kyle getting ready to pull his pants down and demonstrate just why they call it the Full Moon Bridge.
Have a great week!!! | | |
| Kyle and I have been married for exactly 300 days. Just thought you all should know.
This morning was very icky. I didn't get to see my husband much this morning, and then I had an icky interview and what I suspected would be a very icky lunch with The Man and Hollis. I was so wrong on all accounts.
Interview: Went blessfully well. It was just about the best outcome for the situtation, and I do feel God was with me and even though I'm a screwball, He has mercy and a plan for me (and I hope — and think — it's still the same plan we had a few months ago...).
Lunch: OH MY GOSH, COULD IT GET ANY BETTER? (Actually, it could have, but who needs perfection in the world?) I had lunch with The Man, Hollis and....The Big Man. Oh, yeah, in the Ropp Center. And, yes, then me and Hollis snuck upstairs to look at the bedrooms, which are very nice, yes, yes. Kyle was highly envious. I don't know why, though. He had lunch with The Big Man and The Big Man's Wife in Dallas a couple of months ago. Guess this makes us even.
Here's the verses that I've really been very thankful to find. If anyone else feels a little icky today, maybe this will help: Job 11:13-19 Yet if you devote your heart to Him and stretch out your hands to Him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear. You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.
HEY, YOU THERE! What are you doing for the Fourth?
